where to get CrO2

Based on the threads I've read, CrO2 seems to be preferred to diamond paste for a sharp but not harsh finish honing step.

So, where can I get some? I saw several references to Hand American, but the website has been closed since 13 Aug while distribututors are lined up. Furthermore, it seems they may not be carrying CrO2 anymore.

Are there other sources for the razor crowd? Is paste better to look for rather than powder?

See ChrisL in the classified section - last I checked he was still selling small packets for a great price.

Yes, I still have some of the Hand American left and I believe the quantity of packets in my classifieds ad in the honing section is still pretty high. I have enough on hand to fill all quantities listed.

I am continuously amazed at what chrome ox does for edges. It really does seem to work like magic and it's so easy to use.

Yes, order from ChrisL. I did, I got a great packet of CrO that did 3 strops for me, and a wonderful set of homemade instructions. This is definitely worth it.

For anyone else reading this and who would like a more sizable portion of Chrome Ox other than what ChrisL offers, you can order it from this guy. Dave is one of those stand up kinda guys we all like to deal with, even if he isn't centered around straight razors.

Just scroll to the bottom of the page for the Chrome Ox, in liquid or dry powder.
