Amazing Shave!!!
So I shaved tonight, and got my best shave yet! I had my shower, then lathered up. I stropped my razor for only 5 passes on my pasted strop to touch it up, then 30 passes on my linen, then about 50 on the plain leather. I relathed after all that stropping since I wanted to have fresh lather on my face. It was cutting amazingly! I only did a one-pass WTG, but still amazed at the results. I'm still learning, so I'm happy with a successful WTG single pass. I normally get a little irritation on my neck and on the chin area, but not today! I was extra gentle, applying as little pressure as possible. My razor must be pretty sharp, cause it was pretty effortless to cut the hairs. At one point I checked the razor to see if it was actually shaving, and it was FULL of hairs! So, needless to say, I'm very pleased. I was so pleased when I finished, I seriously wanted to show my face off. I know the shaves are only going to get better from here.

Congrats, Dave!! It feels so good, doesn't it?! After a month with the straight blade I am have now added my neck and throat (still not the Adam's apple yet). I have also added XG to go with the WTG strokes. The only nick I got this morning was, can you believe, with my Merkur saftey..

So much for the "safety" razor, Dan!
Isn't that ironic? The straight razor doesn't cut you, but the "safety" razor does...

Hmmmmmmm sounds very familiar to me, since it is almost identical to my routine....
I dropped a hint awhile back in the newbies section, about reading the SOTD forum, Most of the people that post there are the more senior members and most of us actually write about exactly what we do each morning during our shave... It is a great resource and it has some cool pics too... check it out

Thanks for all the replies everyone! I use a dovo classic 6/8" razor, nothing fancy at all, with just a black plastic handle. Can't wait to use it again today!

Thanks Glen! I feel like a real ass now! I always saw the SOTD a section where a bunch of guys are keeping up with the jones's sort of thing! I couldn't be bothered with it, but I never saw it as a teaching tool.
Thanks for adjusting my vision!
