Coming out of the *Clauss*et
Seeing we have the Boker Brotherhood, The Butcher Shop and Clan of the dancing twins, I'm thinking maybe we Clauss junkies should come out of the *Clauss*et and show off our stuff as well!
I only have two myself and I haven't got any pictures ready to go but I'm darn fond of my 13/16" New Departure razor. My other Clauss is a 5/8 Special 47 lovingly renamed "The ugly Duckling" as it was my first $10 junk shop purchase. That razor has taught me just about everything I know about straights and I still reach for it more often than any other razor. The poor thing has warped faux tortoise scales, a tarnished blade and it's been overhoned, underhoned, slammed into the scales, nicked and had it's edge ruined with bad stropping but it keeps on shaving! It's THE razor I drag out whenever I get a new hone or strop... just because I don't care...... but that's not really true because of all my razors, it was the first and it will always be in my rotation for as long as I can put an edge on it.
I'll see what I can do about pix, in the meantime how about some of you show the rest of the guys what they are missing out on by not owning a Clauss.
Regards
Christian

Nice! That's a new one on me.... I've been following Clauss for some time now on Ebay and I don't think I've ever seen one of those.
Thanks for sharing!

Then this guy is going to offer to bet you that he can make the jack of spades jump out of this brand-new deck of cards and squirt cider in your ear. But, son, do not accept this bet, because as sure as you stand there, you're going to wind up with an ear full of cider.

I got this one from Ranat1. What ever happened to him? I'm going to have to get me a couple more of these.

OK I know you guys are gonna be ****ed at this entry
These are the before pics of my Clauss
I haven't done anything to it yet, in fact I haven't even honed this one ...
This is the next on my restore list (should be a quick restore)
And I won't tell ya what I paid for it because I'll get kicked out of the Clauss Set....
This was one of the best purchases I have made on E-bay to date....
Restored ???? how about cleaned and sharpened!!!I don't think there is much of a difference here but at least I cleaned her up with Flitz
I just got her off the hones and strops, This was a breeze to sharpen, I don't think it had ever been touched before, and if it had it must have been factory...
It makes it so easy to sharpen razors when you're not correcting old wear patterns or crappy new factory bevels.....
Ready to shave now!!!!

That is me. My account got wiped out so I changed my name. I am building a stock of stuff for something have in the works. I will be putting out razors again soon. It occured to me though that i had 2 razors of my own that shaved and I kept selling the rest. So I want to be able to shave with mine and take some time to make nice ones not quick polish and sell newby ones.
So u happy with the clauss?

Whew..... for a brief moment I was starting to think there weren't many nice Clauss razors out there... thankfully I was wrong.
I'll have to find my stupid camera and take a shot of two of mine.... after all I guess I did start this thread.
Oh and NICE blades guys.... I'm envious!

Alright, here are my two Clauss razors. The top one with the faux tortoise scales is a 5/8 Special 47. It's tarnished, shows plenty of hone wear, has been used and abused by me more than any other razor I own and I LOVE it! I will reach for this blade more often than I'm willing to admit to myself, just because we're like old friends and I know I can get a decent shave from it, even if it's a bit dull as I've learned to tweak it on the Swaty. In fact, this is my test razor for new hones, strops or anything else I want to test (except for metal polishes apparently).
The other razor is a 13/16 New Departure Razor, has a slight sway in the spine with a matching edge. I really like this one, once I got my coticule and spent a few minutes honing it, the edge came to life and probably is the best shaver in my stable now. It appeared to be darn near NOS, the only thing that made me think someone had used it was that there were a few rust spots + little marks where the scales touch the blade. On the other hand this blade had never been honed properly either, probably just the factory edge as I had to spend quite a bit of time setting the bevels. The grind on this blade isn't the best either... it's not even on the backside but it does not seem to hamper the performance. Oh well, on to the lousy picture.

Just got mine off ebay and did a search on the brand name it lead me here so here it is . also if any one can let me know of an approximate value that would be great I bought this in a lot and took a gamble on a bad photo. I have not done any thing to clean it up I actually just picked it up from the post office .

I was afraid I wouldn't enjoy shaving with my Clauss, as it is very lightweight and hollow ground. The conventional wisdom seems to be: heavier razor for heavier beard. Anyway, I sent it to Josh Earl for a honing, and it is singing it's way through the whiskers. Great razor!
