Well, by popular demand I finally had the time to take some quick and dirty duck shots. I left out the usual supects since you have seen them all alread though I had to include a Wonderedge since no duck shot is complete without them. So here goes: oops only ten allowed so I'll do the last two in another post below)
1-what I call the lifetime rooster, totally blued razor
2-The grim reaper
3-the twin Duck
4-The Wedge
5-The special wedge
6-What I call the two duck special. It just has two ducks on the shank and no model name
7-The stainless Duck
8-Model 29
9-The beau brummel Duck. I call it that because this is one of those that pearlduck had the exclusive sales for the U.S and the address for BB is imprinted on the shank and it is the same as for DD.
10- The vesuvius
11-The Black Diamond
12-The wonderedge.
One of these days I'll have to take some better shots.

It is suspected the razor is haunted.

One of these days in your travels, a guy is going to show you a brand-new deck of cards on which the seal is not yet broken. Then this guy is going to offer to bet you that he can make the jack of spades jump out of this brand-new deck of cards and squirt cider in your ear. But, son, do not accept this bet, because as sure as you stand there, you're going to wind up with an ear full of cider.

Hype? No Hype they are super shavers and the Special #1 is probably the best model to start your collection with as it bridges all the ownership of the DD line from bresnick to bresduck to pearlduck.

Enter the Tufpug.
before there was the Dwarf there was the Shrimp and before the shrimp there was the tufpug. A small 4/8s razor with bone scales. I haven't honed it yet but you get the idea. Not bad for $27 including shipping eh?
I'm not sure what the thing that looks like a hole in the blade is but it ain't on the razor.

I was watching that one on the bay. Looked cool, but I had to pass. Looks like it went to a good home.
How did you find out so much about Bresnick/Bresduck/Pearlduck?

Basically just from collecting them the last few years. After you start to line up about 20 or so vintage ones you can see the history right in front of you by the names and models. There was a guy here a while back who had an old vintage catalog. I don't know what happened to him.

come on gentlemen step right up, step right up. A troubling situation has arrived in the razor club and that is the use of thumbnail pictures. I know that some of you old timers still remember when the razor clubs were a thing of beauty! with large glossy pictures of razors and we viewed until our hearts content. but those days are through it would seem. I beseech all the members of the razor clubs to take the poll in the general section and vote to restore large pictures to our beloved razor clubs. It is up to us gent and together we can restore these clubs to there former glory!!!!!!

I humbly beg the indulgence of the most honourable & esteemed Brotherhood of Daffy Ducks in order to seek enlightenment upon the history of the manufacturers & models of these most illustrious blades.
My grandfather possessed one blade, which he called Bruce. I never understood it either He said it was all the razor a man would ever need & that if I so desired I could have it when I needed it. He hadn't used it since his retirement from the Royal Navy in 1955. His beard was biblically prodigious by the time I arrived Unfortunately my father got hold of it when Ran passed on & it disappeared along with many other significant items.
What is known of Bruce? Not an awful lot. Ran told me it was Duck. It had gold shank & tang. The scales were, best I can remember, undecorated red brown semi tranclucent horn of some kind. It was was acquired somewhere around 1932, I think. Where? Not a bloody clue gentleman. He served all over the globe & as a Captain from 1930 & collected as he travelled.
My questions for your amusement & consideration are these.
When were Ducks first & last produced?
What sequence did the various Ducks appear & disappear?
By whom & at what times were they made?
Sorry to be so abrupt honourable squires & please feel free to remove this to a more appropriate locale if deemed necessary by the hallowed inquisitors. If this information is available anywhere please let me know.
In the mean time kind sirs, I eagerly attend your response with a keen eye on the bay & elsewhere for my admission to the club.
Many thanks
Spike

I thought I knew just about all the ducks and nicks by now but new ones keep popping up. I just got this one. Think its worth 37 bucks? A little stain on the blade but otherwise its in pretty good shape.

Ho ho! That's the one you were talking about in the Auction Talk etc, isn't it? Looks nice!
Natural carbon steel eh? Better than that artificial stuff, that's for sure.
