lE GRELOT 6/8 1/4 HOLLOW NOS
I have got a pair of these from Martin at www.rasurpur.de.
They came practically shave sharp, able to pop a hair but a few laps on my spyderco ultrafine hone improved this even more. I didn't have enough time to have my pre-shave shower this morning so it was a quick wash followed by Proraso pre-shave cream and then varilux white musk shaving cream and the shave that followed was astonishing. The beard just seemed to leap off my face. They have quite a bit of heft to them and feel much like a wedge because of it but the shave is a lot closer as the blades seem to follow the face better. All in all, a big thumbs up from me
I would say if you are interested in these I would get one now, knowing that the guys at B&B are having a limited edition made using these blades. I found Martin excellent to deal with and would buy from him again.
Sorry about the lack of pictures but I dont have a camera at the Moment.
Paul

Come here as often as you like but do not upset the missus.

I have a black handled one on the way. I probably would have gone for a B&B one but I don't really like the colour of the scales, if it had been snakewood etc I'd have grabbed one.
But these ought to be just what I like, a nice stiff 6/8 should be lovely.

Garry,
I thought these would look awsome with blond horn scales and was tempted to order one. Do you mind my asking what the cost is in US Dollars shipped to the US?
Thanks, Ken.

I haven't seen them with horn scaled anywhere, but if you check the rasurpur website you can see that the Le Grelot they have there is $165 shipped to the US.

Yeah the scales are just plain plastic .... the only fancy ones I've seen are the limited edition ones over on B&B which are pink ivory ..

Mine just arrived today in the mail.
First impressions.
It's came in a TI box, but why can't all TI razors be like this?! It's seriously well made, perfect, even, no scratches, scales assembled and pinned properly. Not a single blemish at all, which IMO is rare for anything from TI.
It came well packaged, and included a bottle of oil (presumably for coating the blade), and a couple of small soap samples. The receipt was printed in colour on decent paper, the whole thing just felt classy to me - Martin obviously takes pride in his shop and his reputation - it's very clear.
The razor itsself. Well it's a 6/8, but it feels similar in weight to an 8/8 Henckels Friodur. It's a really meaty piece of steel, stiff ground, it feels like you could chop logs with it!
I haven't shaved with it as yet, but it passes a HHT right out of the box, so I'm pretty confident it'll be good.
I might try and test shave it tomorrow, but initial impressions make me think the B&B guys are in for a real treat with their limited edition razor, and I'm sure anyone buying a 'standard' one will be over the moon too.

Well I used it this morning, and it was superb.
As you'd expect it's a solid lump of steel, it shaves very quietly, there's no flexing whatsoever, no pinging noises when the hairs get cut. It just plows through the hair with no fuss or effort.
It's very similar (but stiffer) to a big Henckels Friodur or a large Robert Williams in how it shaves, so if you like that sort of thing you'll like a 'Le Grelot'.
I'm very happy with mine, in fact I'm thinking it'd be a good candidate for some nice custom scales one day, maybe something heavy like ivory or antler to balance the blade.

The postman just delivered my Thiers Issard "Le Grelot" (w/ black plastic scales). Wow what a nice razor, it sure is heavy.
My scale indicates 62.1 g (=2.185 oz) including the plastic scales.
Although not a fair comparison, my Thiers Issards "Evidé Sonnant Extra" (5/8) wich has similar scales but are a bit smaller weights 46.4 g (=1.635 oz).
I absolutely agree with you about Martin's service. And his website sure is nice!
Apologies for the terrible photograph, just a quicky.
Edit: Ruler is metric (centimeters)
