I was put onto this little razor by Charlote at the GentlemensShop in Hungerford its the same razor that her husband uses to shave his customers with when they want a staight shave .Its also used by other barbers here in the UK & inItaly. It usese half a DE blade that you snap while its still in the wrapper Put the curl that you get when snapping the blade facing towards you in the holder as the lower dimples have slots cut into them & the blade sits more securely . With practice the shaves you get withthis little razor are superb & I would recommend it to anyone who would like to try a straight with out having to spend very much . I've given a number of thse as gifts to friends who want to try a straight without going right into the expense of setting up .
Please use a very light touch first time out as the DE blade is a lot sharper than a straight& watch out forthe spike at the ends of the blade .Take care & you should be alright . This is a razor that I use when I'm in a rush or when travelling & it gets a big thumbs up from me .

Thanks for the introduction to this product. It is a good travel idea. You could pack it in your carry on without a blade and either use your own from checked luggage or pick-up some locally. Have you considered burring the blade ends on a hone to avoid gouging yourself?

I did do this originally but now i'm used to spikes I dont bother.Paul

I shaved with the shavette this morning. It was incredibly close. It lacks the comfort of a real straight but it a great backup and will be my travel razor. I don't like the idea of leaving my good straights to sticky TSA hands.

My blade was a Merkur and while it will draw blood faster than a straight I noticed the nicks were very minor and closed with cold water. There is less blade exposre than a typical DE.
