In Reservoir Dogs, Mr.Blonde uses a straight razor to slash a police officer's ear off.

Here is the scene:

How could I forget the Reservoir Dogs scene.

Kill Bill Vol. II The bride cuts her self free with razor in the boot.

There's that scene in "The Color Purple" where Danny Glover gets a straight shave from Whoopi Goldberg. I won't spoil it for those who haven't seen the movie, as it's pretty climatic.

The movie "The Machinist" has a scene where someone gives themselves a shave with a giant hunting knife. no lather, no face prep, just took a big knife to a dry face. i couldnt imagine the razor burn after that one.

I believe that there was a scene just like that in Predator while they were camping in the jungle.

Also, In Star Trek: Nemesis (it may have been a different movie); William Riker decides to shave his beard off with a straight razor.

Young Peter Fonda played impoverished Verge Likens in "The Alfred Hitch**** Hour" TV show back in 1964. Likens becomes a barber, so he can induce a fatal heart attack while giving a scary straight razor shave to a wealthy, powerful heart patient who got away with killing Likens' father.

Local authorities try but fail to charge Likens with murder, because the expertly shaved corpse, with eyes wide open, is completely unharmed.

It's been a few years since I last saw this episode, but if memory serves, I recall young Fonda doing all the honing, stropping and shaving techniques perfectly.

Plot summary for "The Alfred Hitch**** Hour"
Return of Verge Likens (1964)
Starring Peter Fonda

if i remember correctly, Predator also had a scene where someone took a disposable razor and pushed it so hard into their face that the razor snapped and blood dripped out. it only stands out because the effect was very easy to figure out. there was a sponge on the razor where the blade should have been and the actor simply pushed.

Somebody help me out here. I remember one of the many Tarzan flicks a scene where the ape man had been brought back to England and was learning to shave. He was repeating, "ray-zor, ray-zor" as he held a straight. Which of the later Tarzan movies was that?

High Plains Drifter has a good straight razor scene in it. The barber's hands looks like mine after a few cups of coffee in the morning. LOL, I could never be a surgeon!

in The Great Race by blake edwards, tony curtis shaves with a straight, does all the lathering and everything, then actually shaves. I'm guessing he's old enough that it could have been real. the movie was set in the 19teens I think.

And another one...actually, the battlestarwiki after that episode said that Baltar was shaved with a "switchblade"; for that reason alone I signed up and corrected the entry...just goes to show you how
ill informed some people are...

In the first season of the TV show "Heroes", Sylar shaved with a straight razor too. And then of course, the greatest show of all time, HBO's Rome used them on several occasions.

Just before the "prisoner exchange" in The Patriot, Lord Cornwallis was getting a shave.
