Default The Straight Razor in Film

Any film buffs out there? I love movies and movie trivia ("Leave the gun. Take the cannolis.") I know of many flicks with at least one scene in which a straight razor play a prominent role. Of course we know of the recent Tim Burton musical, oh damn the title escapes me just now. However I do remember the 1980 Brian DePalma flop Dressed to Kill in which Angie Dickenson gets slashed to death with a straight razor.

Anyone else?

My fav remains "Last Tango in Paris". Dark, disturbing, violent movie, but what a great straight scene.

"Eastern Promises" There is a straight scene right at the begining, and the one the most intense fight scenes I've seen toward the end.

"Pan's Labyrinth" Nice little shaving scene.

I know that I know movies, more to come.

Default Speed Racer

Speed Racer has a creepy white haired Asian who crouches on cars like some sort of half human half cat freak... He uses a straight at one point... Realistic sound effect on it too. :P

"Barry Lyndon" There is a scene where he is using a razor from a seven day set.

There have been a few times when I've been channel-surfing and caught someone using a straight. It's usually been westerns, though, which I'm not terribly fond of, so as soon as the shaving was finished, I moved on. My love for the TV series M*A*S*H grew a few weeks ago when I saw an episode in which Col. Potter shaved himself with a straight. (I think it's "Mail Call Again" in season 4.)

It's so frustrating to see someone lathered up, razor in hand, and then... they get interrupted and don't actually shave. *sigh*

I seen a movie once where a straight was cursed and a guy cut himself then the soul of the previous owner took over and was a serial killer. Don't remember the name but good film.

There was a brief scene in Prison Break season 3 where a dude shaved Lachero's head, having the scales extended like it were a knife.

Scent of a woman had a brief scene.

The Green Mile, they used one to shave the Native American's head before execution.

Thats all I can think of, off the top of my head.

There is a shaving scene in Event Horizon. Right before everything goes nutso. But the guy has the blade angle all wrong, sigh.

Talk about shaving angle… though not a “movie” I remember a scene in the series The Twilight Zone (the old TZ, season, 3 episode 1 staring Elizabeth Montgomery & Charles Bronson titled “Two”) with Charles shaving himself in an abandoned barber shop… the razor angle was about 90 degrees... and he got BBS too!

"The Untouchables" has Robert De Niro as Al Capone being shaved with a straight. Capone startles at one point and as a result the barber nicks him. There is the shot of the barber's face in a look of horror as he thinks he is going to be killed.

I've seen a couple of silent movies that had straight shaves in them, but their title escapes me at the moment.

It doesn't have to be a shaving scene. It has only to feature a straight razor.

In Captains Courageous Manuel loses his new razor in a bet with Long Jack after Harvey cheated by tangling Long Jack's fishing lines.

The Matrix's Twins(The Ghosts) use straight razors(modified) as their weapons of choice. In A Clockwork Orange, Alex should have used a straight, as that was his weapon of choice in the book.

In the movie Matewan, C.E. Lively cut a kid's throat with one.
