Tennessee Dave is on a distinguished road
Default My first straight

Well today a the age of 58 years old I bought my first straight. Thanks to all of you here at SRD for your posts because I used what I have learned here in an attempt to try to make a reasonably intelligent decision. I chose vintage over new becasue I like old things and because of some of the restores I have seen on this site. If anyone knows where I can find information on when this razor was produced or when it went out of production I would appreciate it. I should have it within the next few days and then it will be off to a fellow SRD brother for sharpening, polishing, stropping and inspection.

I would put the age of the razor as from the late 1940s to the early 1950s. Pearlduck moved from Manhattan to Jamaica, N.Y in the 1950s and your box has the Manhattan address. Great razor, it should give you super shaves.

Sparks, Nevada Police report last night Homer La Fong Died while shaving with his straight razor. His wife reported he was using his Iwasaki Razor and while shaving his neck it just seemed to have a mind of its own and came to life and cut his throat. Subsequent investigation revealed the razor belonged to Toshiro Kawasaki a WWll Kamakazee pilot who was killed when his plane slammed into the USS Yorktown. His last act was to shave with that razor. It is suspected the razor is haunted.

That's quite nice for a first razor. Mine was a stained up Torrey; a great shaver but had the looks of a workhorse to match.

Wow. I almost bought that razor. Had it locked up and pulled out of the buy. I had too many other financial commitments. Glad to see that someone on SRP got it.
Congratulations!!!
