My wife bought me a razor at an antique fair. I haven't seen it. She said it looks really old, has some kind of wood handle with a picture of bear, and it sounded like a wedge (though I don't know if she understood my description of what a wedge vs. fully hollowed is).

She said the guy that sold it said it was "German"

Anyone ever hear of a "Lautner" razro? I can't find it on the internet or my razor book.

Now then. I will not comment on the communication between you and your spouse. These days, it is probably perfectly normal to communicate via electronic means.

Anyway, "Lautner" will most likely be "Lautrer", which would be an abbreviation for "thing from Kaiserslautern". Not exactly Solingen. Pictures might actually help. Of the razor, mind you.

ahhh. a razor from the lost factory of kaiserslauten!

My wife is out of town visiting her parents.When she brings me the razor I'll post a picture but wont' be a for a week.

She could have gotten that wrong - albeit ivy league trained she's mildly dyslexic so she occasionally transposes letters. It could also be eroded so that she can't really read it. .
