Default It's good to be in the razor biz!

Wow, I have not been in the market for a new razor in a long time but I just checked Classic Shaving's site and the prices have skyrocketed.

I bought a TI Super Gnome on 10/21/2007 for $80.49. They're now $133.49 or a 40% increase. And of course they're out of stock and TI has said that they're months if not a year behind the demand is so high.

If I had the capital I would do the following (Hey, I can daydream, can't I?):
  • I would have Klaus (Moviemaniac) take a jaunt over to visit with Herr Wacker, interview him and video tape in detail and close up his methods for grinding for all types of grinds.
  • Ok, if I didn't have the capital to be CEO and run the company, then I would coordinate a worker owned cooperative in the U.S. (OK, and maybe a European subsidiary) where all of us members would be totally into working our tails off to handle all aspects of both forged and stamped razors.
  • We'd be full line of course, razors, strops, etc.
  • We'd give the company a very cool name, get ton's of press and have orders stacked up all over the place.
  • We'd quit our day jobs and just go for it.
  • Some of our artisans could live away from the central office. The scales artisan for example could ship his finished work in bundles.
Oh, to dream.

You can see a clip of Herr Wacker from the link in this post. So, you're already on your way!

I will gladly accept a 25% discount on my first purchase from your company for providing this service!

I vote we call it Classy Shaving so as to further muddy the waters...

Its nice and a curse at the same time.

I remember about 12 years ago, you couldnt really find much other than some conk stuff. Now..you can find a great variety but it costs a whole lot

Exchange rates and the effects of oil price inflation are the biggest reasons why the price of razors has increased.

You just can't put a price on a good shave Of course I just started this hobby so I didn't have the opportunity to see cheaper prices.

Still seems like a very cheap shave comparatively speaking, however I do spend a bit more for first aid supplies at this stage

I would seriously love to be able to produce - even in limited runs - straights here in the UK. Just imagine how nice that would be - well, I'm working towards it....................

In the video you see Herr Wacker hold up a piece of gray stuff with a circle cut out of the bottom portion of it. It's WALRUS leather!! Holy crap! That must be at least as thick as my thumb!
