Hey guys,

Reader's Digest version:

I'm selling off my collection for health reasons.

I want to price them fairly and would rather undersell than attempt to oversell.

I am having a real tough time pricing them out.
None are restorations nor are they honed but most have seen a lot of time cleaning/polishing etc.

Been looking through the classifieds for similar stuff but, well, no two razors seem to be all that similar.

Any tips/pointers etc?

Looks like prices are generally down from several months ago, yes?

Should I just post them and ask members to suggest what's fair?

Other suggestions?

If someone with proper expertise wanted to help price them, via photographs, I could pay them with a razor or two, assuming I have something they might like.

I wish I had enough expertise to help you accurately price them out. I would not mind picking up a couple of razors.
However, if you want to post or send pictures, I would be more than happy to give my opinion expecting nothing in return.

Whenever I am looking for a ballpark as to pricing I do a search on ebay. I would go to the 'straight razors' category and then on the left hand menu scroll down and you will see a box for 'completed items' Check that and then scroll down and hit show items. Of course you can also search for specific brands within the straight razor category and follow the same procedure. Best of luck with selling your collection.

Pricing is always very hard when it comes to vintage and antique items as no 2 are alike. Even Christie's experts occasionally get it very wrong! You can sell them on ebay and you get the current market price or ask a senior member to price them or sell them through e.g. Vintage Blades or Classic Shaving (both forum sponsors).

Just a thought.

Just put a few razors up for sale in the classifeds, at a price you think is realistic, and see what happens. You can always relist at a lower price if it does not sell.

Just be sure to include a link to a much larger set of pic's. I use flickr.com but there are many other web sites to host a photo set. The bigger pics will work wonders for your sales. It gives the buyer much more confidence in what they are buying.
