Wosty's are very nice. I suppose not being as well known as some of the other makers makes them a somewhat underrated brand. If you can get the staining off without removing the etching, that would probably make a collector happy; I've not seen that etching before.

It makes me think about how awesome it would have been to visit Lilliput. That being said, looks like an awesome razor that should clean up nicely.

Get it, clean it, sharpen it, use it, you'll love it!!! It sharpens easily and seems to have a soft feel when it shaves.

They are lustful, covetous, and borderline dangerous... I feel like browsing ebay this morning

Is it for you?
Do you want to repair it for sale?
My first feeling is that it is a good quality razor but the repair will need to be "good" and carefully done for sale. For personal use the repair is not quite so crucial and the razor will shave very well.
So, it depends on your intentions, but the razor is a little tired, but not yet tired for retirement.

That shape for the blade is good for shaving. I have a Sheffield razor that I use on a daily basis, and blade is shaped just like that, though my Wostenholms are a bit different. I wonder why I ever used anything else!

Nice razor!
I have one of my father's old razors that is just like yours. Mine is terribly stained but I'm working on that. It also has somewhat of a smile that I'm going to have to learn to hone around. Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to getting it into shape.
If you manage to get the stains out, I'd like to know how you do it. I've had some luck so far with 1000 grit wet/dry but I'm afraid to do too much because of the engraving and I don't know enough about that kind of work to know what else to try.

Why not try Glen's tumbler idea? It may a good way to clean up the blade and save the etching at the same time
New Idea??? Experimentation....

Actually, the blade is "tumbling" as we speak. I've had it in the walnut and rubbing compound for two days now but, based on what I've seen so far and some of the comments from Glen's original thread, I'm not sure the polisher is going to get these stains out.
