Default How did I do??

OK ... so I am pretty new at this (about a week or so) and just bought my 2nd razor on Ebay. I started with a no-name solingen razor I bought on ebay:

Refurbished Imperial 11/16 Spike Straight Razor - eBay (item 290260554451 end time Sep-20-08 22:09:46 PDT)

and really enjoy straight razor shaving, but didn't feel like I was getting the best shave. After reading up ALOT, I decided to go after a nicer razor on Ebay. I bought this for $45 shipped:

ANTIQUE J.A. HENCKELS ZWILLINGSWERK STRAIGHT RAZOR - eBay (item 270282651596 end time Oct-09-08 17:52:27 PDT)

I sniped at the end and the other bidder MATCHED my high bid, so I ended up winning. So, my question to the experts is this: How did I do and did I get a good razor? I know I paid $45, and it was a little higher than I'd prefer to have gone, but it looks like a good razor. Thanks so much!!

Ok, fine, I'll answer just to stop the whining.
Ya done good!
Now shut up!

You got a hone German razor from a reputable ebay seller for $20. I've never used an Imperial but nearly all German razors are good so I'd say you did great.

Regarding the Henckel razor. IT'S A HENCKEL!!! Personally, I have been happy with every Henckel razor I have ever touched. I think they are fantastic shavers so I'd say you did great on that one too! One caveat--there is a little questionable area on the edge about a half inch from the toe. Even if it is a ding, not just an odd reflection, and you have to hone it out, you still got a bargain.

You should be very happy with both razors.

Thank you. I wasn't trying to whine, I genuinely had no clue.

I'll stick to the newbie forums from now on, but I appreciate the response.

Nice! Henckels are supposed to be great. Their kitchen knives are.
I'm too new to this to have got round to getting hold of one yet, but it's one i'll be trying eventually. Looks nice & clean & nearly ready to go.
No one means any offence here. It's the friendliest, most laid back forum you'll find!
