Mr. So Yama****a is a well respected vendor of high quality stones. We, the below posting members of SRP would like to petition that his name is not being censored
Note, your post in this thread indicates that you are supporting the petition, even if you say the opposite. So, ... uhm I mean 'so', not 'So'.... let the party begin
here's what I'm talking about :

Best for this to be placed in the Rules, Site Comments and Suggestions. Hopefully, a modification can be made to the word censor...

The new profanity filter is blocking out part of So's surname since 4 letters of his surname are in the same sequence as a 4 letter word.
Is that what you were asking?
His last name is:
Y-A-M-A_S*H'I,T-A
Did I get past the filter on that one?

It's not the word censor we are worried about, it's the word Yama****a.
Mark, it appears we have a new expletive censoring mechanism on the forum that searches for any of the well-known curse words and asterisks them out.
So's full name is So Y-a-m-a- s-h-i-t-a.
It's also rather annoying because I am still quite desperate to start a badminton thread in the off topic area, but it will lose all impact if "shuttle****" is censored.
And that's not even mentioning my intro to basic plumbing thread: opening and closing valves aka how to adjust your ****.
James.

I'd like to be able to read Yama****a's name properly. I hope he gets exempted from the profanity filter. And I hope I spelled his name right... hard to know since I didn't know the correct spelling to begin with. (I hope I chose the correct 4-letter word)

Seems the filter is a bit flawed!

Is he being barred from creating a user name and joining, or is any display of his name simply being censored? Either way, I agree, if it can be fixed, please do so.

As a firm opponent to any kind of censorship, I must add my name to this thread.

We are looking at this issue. Not only So's name was affected, but there was somebody mentioning pea**** feather as well
Yes, the word censor has been enabled a coupld of days ago. There are just a couple of words being filtered, and I am checking to see if we can maintain a whitelist of words that are left alone.

O-kaaaay, I think it's about time this goody-two-shoes piece of silicon called a word censor learned a little something about context... Not just that, but I am also opposed to censorship. As responsible adults, we can self-regulate what we type on the board without the need for electronic nannies.
(Just imagine if I had misspelled context with a "u" instead; it'd be blocked out! )
