2 days' stubble
Matt ivory super silvertip brush
Trumper's violet soap
Vintage Clydesdale shell strop
Old Sheffield rp
Trumper's alum
Trumper's CSF
Nice razors but argh - got a couple of red spots on right neck side and felt the alum, and I even didn't get a very smooth face. I hate this
Yeah, they disappear in 20 min but still. I *think* that it was because of angles and blade shape - some of my angles / approaches didn't work as with other razors...
Could also be the soap. This Trumper's violet cake just doesn't perform as well as say Tabac or Honeybee.
Cheers
Ivo

Been playing with hones, and this time I struck out. Ok shave, but this razor needs to go back to the 8k Shapton and work its way back up.

Any lessons learned / tips from this, Michael?
I am in whisker growing mode so just lathered a few soaps last night. Seems Trumper's Violet doesn't work as well as others. I got it from some unknown online vendor, and am thinking it might be stale? It is the only soap that doesn't really show signs of having been used - compared to Tabac, L'Occitane, C&E Nomad, etc - everything else I have... Maybe I must try hotter on it before lathering to enhance loading
Finished off with L'Occitane CADE soap and ASB - nice
Cheers
Ivo

Yes. I'm not very good with the belgian yellow; and next time I want to play with a new hone don't do it on a razor in the rotation. It just wasn't terribly sharp yesterday after honing it on the coticule, and the chrome oxide I used didn't really improve it much today. So it wasn't sharp enough for a really good shave, but not dull enough to put down for another. So I got a decent shave but that's it. Before I headed out this morning I honed it on the Shaptons and chrome oxide and it looks back to its old self again. I'm not terribly impressed with the coticule, but I've only used it a few times whereas I've been using the Shaptons for many months and I've gotten used to them.

Thu:
Rooney small style 1 brush
Gold-Dachs Spezial soap
Hand American strop
6/8 Heljestrand #32
Pinaud Clubman A/S
This used to be my favorite razor, but I hadn't honed it since last August and it had gradually been pushed out of my rotation by newer, sharper razors. I decided to update the edge to my current standards last night, and this morning got a impressive reminder of why it had been such a favorite. Yowza sharp and handles like a sports car

I rehoned my worldmaster after about 2-3 months of use......and MAN did it shave nice after that. First time ever that I got a smooth shave AND no burn from an alcohol containing aftershave. So here's what I used:
Proraso pre
Homemade silvertip
RJ Outram strop
Colleen's Orange Patchouli cream
Worldmaster 6/8 Sheffield with cocobolo scales
Hot water, Cold water
FA aftershave/aftershave balm.
Like I said...amazing.

Neutrogena conditioner
Shavemac 501
Tabac soap
Tornblum 9/16 frameback
Alum
Pinaud clubman A/S
I'll probably jinx myself by saying this, but I don't think I've ever had a single nick or weeper when using the Tabac shave soap.

Brilliant shave today, loved it..
Hot shower & conditioner on 3 days growth for 5 mins or so
Rinse, Trumpers Sandalwood & EJagger BB brush
Proraso pre cream
TM red latigo strop
Lewis 5/8" roundpoint, one down, 2 against the grain
Rinse
Thayers Lemon and Aloe witch hazel
Proraso a/s balm
Paco Rabanne a/s
Perfect. The only thing I am wanting for right now are a couple more tubes of shaving cream (I ran out of Trumpers Limes) ..
... and that pasted strop from Tony, er, and a few more razors (a 1/2 and full hollow) , a hone or two, a few of Coleens soaps, some YSL M7 EDT ......
