SOTD: Sunday March 9 - Saturday March 15, 2008
I'll kick off this week's SOTD thread with a new razor.
Razor: Shumate Tungsteel
Strop: Unidentified vintage strop
Shaving Cream: Omega Shaving Soap (rebranded Prorasso)
Brush: Cheap Badger
Aftershave: Pinaud Clubman
Results: Fantastic! The Shumate has emerged as the clear favorite in my feeble rotation... (thanks Joe!)

Sunday shave
I usually don't shave on Sunday save it for Monday morning but place to go so.
Hot shower
Shavemac silvertip badger brush
C&E sweet almond oil shave cream
7/8 W&B Vlad's special wedge
Wow did I get a great shave. I couldn't stop touching my face it was sooooo smooth. You would think I would be used to a really smooth shave by now but it was better than ever.

Monday morning Test shaves!!!!
Had to test shave razors this morning...
My standard shave using Mitchell's Wool Fat soap and Musgo Real cream mixed into an ultra smooth Uberlather...
The razors are my Boker Red Injun #101 spike point, a antique store rescue....
and one of my "Boker Brothers" beautiful Gold Washed round point King Cutter...
Something about a Boker edge when it is up and running right, is hard to beat, and these two are no exceptions...
Both sides of my face and neck feel nice and smooth....

She Challenged Me...
So yesterday was Sunday, and I decided to give myself a quick one-pass WTG to clean up for my girlfriend.
Well, she challenged my shaving ability. She said, while rubbing my face, "did you really shave? It doesn't feel like it..."
Arrgh! She questions my shaving abilities? She doubts my BBS ability?
So today I brought out the big guns. Tonight I showered and put conditioner in my one-day old beard and kept the water hot. All the while a Moss scuttle was warming in the sink along with the badger brush. TGQ Bay Rum shaving cream was ready to be whipped up into a lather when I exited the shower.
Some fresh hot water in the scuttle and I whip up some thick lather...it's applied generously across my face while I ponder the razor to use.
Should I use the satin wedge? How about the Goldedge? No, the Puma Gold...or should I use the 8/8 Wade & Butcher...the helj, filli or the Engstrom frameback? No, only one razor is good enough for this task...THE PINK RAZOR!
That's right, a pink 6/8 Geneva round-point full-hollow. If I'm going to shave well, it's gonna be with some 'pank' scales mocking me the whole time!
Well, I did manage a BBS shave, but not without the use of an alum block, Thayers lavender witch hazel, and some bay rum aftershave followed by aloe vera balm. I'll admit I did more passes than usual WTG, XTG, AGT, and enough skin stretching to test the limits of the collagen in my skin, but it was *smooth*.
My skin is tight and 'sticky-smooth' as Lynn describes a BBS-grade shave. The only problem is that the girlfriend is at home tonight...so I'm alone with no one to feel my face and share the victory.
Oh well, at least I'll have the 'pank' razor as testimony...
