Using soap my lather seems to be very sticky.
I thought maybe I had to much soap and not enough water, but when I added water it became very runny and disappeared fast.

Anyone have any ideas for me?

Depending on what soap you use and how your local water is (hardness) it can be a precarious thing. However it does sound like a too little/too much water thing. (Too little water at first and too much later.
