Castle Forbes Cream Question
I've heard great things about the CF creams and I'd like to get some soon. For those of you who have had the opportunity to try them all, have they done one flavor particularly well? I realize this is subjective. What I'm looking for is any feedback (if there is any to be had) such as "their XXX cream is great, but their YYY is simply out of this world!". Thanks!

I have used them all. The newer one the sandlewood and cedar I think it is, many don't like. It has a very earthy smell to it almost like being in a bog. I like it but thats just me. Their Lime soap is outstanding.

Thanks. I was hoping you might chime in.
I have to plan a trip into NYC to grab the CF Limes and the GFT Lime soap. I like the way the scent of the sandalwood/cedarwood sounds, but I think I'll save that for the Fall.

I have the lavender cream and aftershave, I enjoy the scent, one of my favorite creams too makes such a great lather. I was sent a bottle of the limes aftershave on accident in place of the lavender when I ordered it and I sent it back to get the lavender but was very tempted just to keep the limes aftershave - it smelled so good and I didn't even open the bottle. If the cream smells like the aftershave I'd say the scent is great.
I'm not a big fan of sandalwood at the moment, though I do have the SRP soap sandalwood/vetiver soap that smells, well .. like a block of wood .. I haven't used it yet. I was planning on getting some of the castle forbes limes cream eventually .. just already have such the stack of creams and I just bought some proraso with some diamond paste from CS a little while ago.
Maybe the limes are next on the list of things to get, with a shapton 16k and and .. whatever else I seem to come across lol ... this is not helping me get rid of what little CC debt I have that seems to be growing.

You and me both.
I read on another forum that the CS cream has a harder texture than most creams. Do you find this? Do you load the brush right out of the container or is it soft enough to load in a bowl or in your palm?

The tub of CF lavender that I have is similar texture/density to a tub of Proraso. It's too dense to scoop some out with a finger, so I just swirl the brush on top of the product like I would with a soap. Only difference is, I use much less water initially so as not to contaminate the tub, do a few swirls then transfer to a lathering bowl and add a little extra water.
CF lavender is hands down my favourite product at the moment, I'm planning to pick up some of the after shave balm sometime soon to compliment it.

Scents are personal. CF cream is one of my benchmark creams that I judge all others against If yu are comfortable with the price it is a must own.

CF Cedarwood & Sandalwood smells like dirt and peanut butter to me Surprised me because I thought it would be right up my alley. It makes an excellent lather though. Too bad I can't get on with the fragrance. . .

The so-so reviews of the Sandalwood scent has steered me clear of that one but as most here have already stated the lather is second too none...
I use both the Lavender and the Lime and love both of them....

I think the Sandlewood-cedar is an acquired taste. Most either love it or hate it.

I usually like the earthy scents - the QED Vetiver soap for example has solid dirt component. Some don't care for it, but I really like it.
I'm going to try to get to Cambridge Chemists so I'll be able to check out the scents before I purchase. Thanks for all the discussion here.

Haven't used it yet, but I had my CF Lime arrive today. Smells so good I had a weird urge to eat some, lol! They take the biscuit with their packaging. Makes the product feel very special and premium.
Out of interest they state that each fragrance serves a different purpose, i.e. lime is to prevent nicks and cuts, lavendar is for those who want a sensitive shave etc...

CF Lime esential Oils
CF Lime and essential oils is pretty good product. Makes plenty of lather and keeps a nice lime fragrance throughout the shave. Nice rich lather. I like it while alternating with the 1805 cream. its worth the money.

Anyone have any problems with skin irritation from CF lime cream or aftershave balm, especially those with sensitive skin?

I think already said it in here if you have not tried it is a must try. As for sensitive skin no problem pure cream and EO unless you have allergies to one of the flavors.

Thanks Don! I have had problems with hard soaps i think that i may have a reactionto the clay portion of many of the soaps, but i have yet to try a cream. I have had good luck with CS's gold soap cakes but I just wanted to get some feedback before i drop $40 on some of the Castle Forbes cream i am thinking lime, but not sure if this is a good choice over the others.
Bill

CF creams are my favorite. As far as the Sandlewood and Cedarwood cream goes, it has a VERY woody scent. I personally love it, and it's now my favorite cream out there. But I have to say that it's definitely not for everyone.
