Default Strange Occurance

Just kinda wondering if anyone has any ideas on this one.

I used Colleens Sandalwood Vanilla soap for the second time today, and a little bit after I had applied the lather, my upper lip starting 'burning' Now, I don't have any known allergies, at least not that make my skin irritated like that, there were no cuts on my lip, and I had not touched the razor to my face yet.

Any ideas? Anyone else had this happen?

I have heard this before. A dermatologist told me it may be a negative reaction to the glycerin and that you shouldn't worry about it unless irritation occurs or if the burning becomes unbearable.

If that happens, you'll just have to start using barbasol instead!

If it does persist or becomes unbearable, you could try williams instead, it does have SOME glycerin in it but is based more in sodium tallowate.

For awhile I had this problem with mama bear soaps, but it wasn't enough pain to keep me from using it and there was no visible irritation.

On the other hand, maybe you had a cold sore forming that you just couldn't see yet!!!
Hope this helps, if not, PM me and I can try to find the dermatologist information pamphlets and mail them to you. Do note that I said TRY

For me it's the Sandalwood itself, I don't care what brand it is, creme or soap, if it is sandalwood I will get a very slight burn from it....
It has never been bad, just a very slight burn, no after effects, so it has never stopped me from using any of them...

Hmm, I imagine both of these are possible, though I still don't get why it was localized to one spot and to this one instance(2nd time with the sandalwood, and I've been adding glycerin to milled soap for 2 weeks before I got Colleens.)

Hopefully it was just a one time thing. And DBolger, there was some visible iritation. Just a little bit of lasting redness.

This is really quite a mystery to me, though you guys are shedding a little light on it!

I mean, you are simply talking about a particularly sensitive area of skin, I think thats all there is to it.
Stick with it a couple days and see how things pan out, if there is no improvement, see a dermatologist or just switch and see if that has anything to do with it.
If it is the sandalwood itself, then so be it, you learn something new everyday!
