try the Nancy Boy line of shave creams, etc. I really like the signature shave cream. nice smell, not overwhelming, doesn't smell like perfume, nor does it make you pants ride just below your nipples.

Hopefully it doesn't make your pants ride just below your bum
Seriously, try different scents from different places, Trumpers, Truefitt and Hill (get samples where you can, that way you aren't out a ton of money on soap/cream you don't like). Personally, I like TGQ Cavendish Black, or Ogallala Bay Rum, but those could be considered old men scents.

Just go for anything with Citrus notes. Very modern.

I'd second the Nancy Boy signature scent. Maybe not a "young" smell, as I don't know exactly what that is, but definitely not old (I DO know what that is).

Something about the name "Nancy Boy" makes this old geezer cringe. ........from Dictionar.Com:

IMHO, whether aftershaves and perfumes work scent-wise depends a lot on the person wearing it. Something that smells attractive when person A wears it, might smell awful on person B. I thinks it has a lot to do with skin and body chemistry.
That said, I personally use Plisson shaving soap, which smells mild and fresh. Shaving soap PLISSON (Refill) 10.20 Euros - Plisson for Shaving
For aftershave I use "212 for men" from Carolina Herrera. They have a balm that 's great for my skin, and the smell is very contemporary. They also have regular alcohol based A/S with the same scent.
Great thread, had a few good laughs,
best regards,
Bart.

My wife considers clubman to be kinda hot. don't think she is old is 33 old? 33 was old when I was yonger but it dosn't seem old now. I think some of the old scents are good if worn lightly. I have had women ask what I was wearing (in a positive way) I made up something when it was cheep old clubman. I do on ocassion wear old spice and adidas. Truefitt&Hill has some great stuff that will set you apart from the crowd and not smell like an old barbershop.

33 isn't old. I'm staring down the barrel of 45 in a few months.

By the way, while they're not modern scents, I've had great responses from women covering the 19-28 range when I used Cavendish Black or Leatherneck colognes. Every punk out there uses a "modern" scent. If you use a classical but tasteful scent, that's one way to stand out from the crowd.

While I prefer the more nostalgic scents. You might want to check out some of the Truefitt and Hill creams. They can kind of go either way and still provide great performance.

Check with Truefitt and Hill, they will send you samples.. I'm a younger guy, and love their stuff. So does my wife. Sometimes the Trafalgar cologne will get her into the SRP thong for me..

I'll second some of the previous posts above regarding citrus based scents and food based scents.
For citrus side of the things you could start with an excellent value for the money and use JM Fraser from Canada. It's a large tub and comparatively inexpensive. For the more expensive side of things you could step up to Aqua di Parma shave cream (They also make a line of excellent fragrances) as well as Creed GIT soap and I'm guessing that you already know about Creed fragrances.
For the food side of things I'm really enamored with Almond based scents: i.e. Coates, C & E, DR Harris
For me experimentation led to SCAD and I have enough to last me for years and I still don't have all the variations i.e. no Trumpers/DR Harris Coconut
I'll also have to say that Nancy Boy signature is also a favorite and pleasure to shave with from both a fragrance and quality of shave perspective. This one will always be in my rotation.
Also in my rotation for summer is menthol (i.e. Proraso, Bigelow from BBW, Ingram and Omega) love the cooling effect from the cold water rinse.
Best of Luck to ya

No, She's robbing the Craftmatic adjustable bed...
As far as the scents go, most of the soap scent will go away with your rinse. Unless it's a super strong scent.
if you really want a more modern scent, Mama-bear does soaps in more varieties than you can imagine. including several popular cologne scents.

I love the smell of the TGQ soaps, but can't ever get a good lather with them.. MamaBear soaps lather wonderfully but don't have quite the scent.
Last night I tried CastleForbes cream+TGQ soap. Worked pretty well, although the scents just sorta cancelled each other and I didn't smell anything. Oh well.
