Well I finally had to try it and yes it's very good.

The scent is nice and it feels very slick.

One thing stands out though, it lathers like crazy!

I used an almond sized bit, added a tablespoon of the local hard H2O, and it produced a very large amount of lather, enough for a 4 or 5 pass shave!

At $9.50 US a tube from QED it's well worth it.

Give it a shot if you haven't,

Hi!

Musgo Real is a portuguese brand. Said to be a very good shaving cream... I've never tried it, though... Want to know why? a) despite being portuguese, it's incredibily hard to find in any shop... they just don't sell it in it's country of origin because the portuguese shavers don't buy it... why? because b) it's very expensive... because the main market is the US and other countries and to keep us portuguese from buying it the price is high... you are lucky, my friend. You got it cheap - for us over here it costs around 10 euros, maybe more...

Funny, this is sitting on my counter right now. I just took it out tonight and thought I'd try it for the first time tomorrow morning.

I know what you mean about the lather. I put a dime size in my hand, watered it a bit, and it was like you said, crazy amount of lather.

My only concern is the almost medicinal smell. Not sure how well it will go with my aftershave (Art of Shaving Sandalwood)? Musgo Real also makes aftershave, so maybe I'll need to try it.

My friend opened a store earlier this year, here in San Francisco, called The Belljar. They carry it, along with some other soaps and brushes. Forgot how much I paid though. Not more than $12.

The smell sticks like mad. Took me 3 days to get it out of my favourite (i.e. only) brush. If you like the smell, that's probably a bonus...

So I tried my Musgo this morning. I wanted to like it, I really did. My first batch of lather was way too bubbly, and not creamy enough, so I remixed. My second mix was better, but still not as creamy as the Art of Shaving Sandalwood I've been using. I guess that's my only point here; I prefer the Art of Shaving cream still, but nice to try something else. Oh, and the smell. Can't get past the medicinal smell.

Next up is Baxter of California's shave gel? Can't remember exactly, but I don't think it says cream. I got a sample while in LA.

Then I've got CF Lime coming from Classic Shaving, and based on what I've read in the Forums, it's the holy grail of shave creams.

I actually have a Musgo Real shaving cream tube. Cost me 10 Euros

But it's really good... I love it.
I only wish it could be available in more places, but the price is ridiculously high for a product made in a factory 20 Kms North my home. That's why I gave up trying to sell it in my little e-shop. I just can't afford to have a stock of Musgo Real products.

Personally, I love the Musgo real scent. I use the cream from time to time but I can't use it all that often. It's a high glycerin product and I have a glycerin sensitivity that this stuff will set off. The aftershave (classic) is a great smelling product. Same problem there though so I just use a little in places where I haven't shaved. Too bad they reformulated the scent of the aftershave, it was much richer and deeper before. It's still good stuff though.

Love the stuff, my go to tube (heck, I used it tonight, posted it in the SOTD. Lathers like crazy, slick and cushioning, and the smell is great! I dont find it to be medicinal at all. In fact it seems fresh and grassy.
