I'll give them a try. All 3 or whatever you have available. I may need to get the recipe so my ladyfriend can make up a batch for me.

got the cream today, what a smell! the tea tree is a tad strong for me, but nice. the mint is exactly what you would expect, and the absinthe...

well, let's just say if you ever pursue production, i will be a regular customer! finest scent EVER.

eta: just shaved with it, and it lather up very nice! thin, but extremely lubricative.

Default My Review:

So I tried the Absinthe cream today for a shave.

I'll start out by stating that the scent of the Absinthe cream is dead on in terms of what one would think an Absinthe cream would and SHOULD smell like.

I used a fine razor and large silvertip brush. I lathered directly on my face. At first the lather was a little too watery and thin, but that was probably my miscalculation. The lather built up nicely after that though and I had decent coverage.

The scent when lathering changed only slightly to a more... I can only say vegetable scent. Maybe it was the chlorophyll for color? Beats me. Anyway, it didn't bother me or anything, I just preferred the scent when I wasn't lathering. During the shave itself it seemed like the scent diminished a little which is fine for me. It was kind of nice actually that the scent wasn't so strong and distracting during the shave itself.

The lubrication was great. My growth was maybe 4 or 5 days worth. I had absolutely no nicks. Very smooth and comfortable. I usually only do one with/across the grain pass and don't go for BBS. Towards the end of the first pass, the lather dried a little but really didn't affect the shave. It was still very comfortable. I actually decided to re-lather (which worked well straight from the brush, although not as warm) and do a second with/across pass. Not so in depth but only to go for BBS. Well it worked. VERY close shave. Comfort level was very high the whole time. Scent as I said had diminished which I personally liked, but others may not prefer.

Anyway, I don't know what I'd change if anything. Maybe only that slight vegetable smell I tried to describe lol. I would totally buy this stuff! Thanks for the opportunity!

I've finally tested all three samples I received. Thanks, Chad!

First, the cream in general was very nice. I got great lather out of all three creams. Very slick and my face felt great afterwards.

I tried the mint scent first. Very strong mint scent, and actually had a slight cooling sensation afterwards, a la menthol. Definitely woke me up in the morning. I liked it, some people might find it too strong.

Absinthe: First off let me state that I'm not a huge fan of the absinthe scent. But others have already said how much they like it. It just doesn't appeal to me. I will second what Philadleph said, the scent seemed different after lathering. I seemed to like it better, but maybe that's because it wasn't as strong.

Lavender Jasmine Mint: This was my favorite. Still very minty, but not as overpowering as the mint cream. Very subtle lavender scent was nice (I don't normally like lavender, but it went great with the mint). I would use this regularly.

So, there's my $0.02. I hope you keep this up. I think the formulation and performance of the creams is excellent. Definitely on par with high-end creams I've tried.

I also tried the lavender jasmine mint. It was awesome!!! My best shave yet!! I have sensitive skin and the lather was slippery and smoooooth. I did three passes and it did leave a tingle as I finished with no irritation. I quite like the strong scents these soaps have. I didn't notice a change in odor. My cream foamed to a full thick lather right away. All in all a great shaving experience. Please keep me in mind when you go into full production, I want MORE!!!

Thanks again for the samples,

I just shaved with the tea tree cream. The base cream is wonderful; I wouldn't change a thing. Nice, thick, fluffy lather, it's perfect. I wasn't crazy about the scents, tho. IMO they are much too heavily scented. This is OK for the mint, but the tea tree has a very strong medicinal smell, and the rosemary in the mint-lavender-rosemary overpowers the other two scents. Actually, IMO you could leave the rosemary out altogether. Hope this helps. In any case I like the cream so much, I'm going to use up the samples, smell or no smell.

Default lavender jasmine mint

hi i did tried lavender jasmine mint and this is what i think.cream foamed right away and smell was nice.what i did notice it wasn't enough thickness of the leather.i shaved part of my face and didn't feel same (when i use tabac).i did add shaving secret 3 couples and then finished up.i don't know it is may be my face but this is exactly what i feel.if you can make it a little bid thicker and slippery that would be great.hope this honest opinion won't hurt anyones feeling.Thank You for everything as soon as i have tried next 2 i let you know.

Thanks for the opinions everyone! I still have a few more samples to send out but hopefully I can do that early next week. The last few people on the list may have to wait a bit since I'm out of scented cream and will have to dip into the small tub of cream I left unscented. I don't have the time to do that just now but I'll get to it as soon as I can.

Here's what I was planning to change for the 2nd batch:
add kaolin clay for slickness - I actually meant to add this to the first batch but forgot
switch sweet almond oil out for avocado oil - avocado oil has more skin-friendly unsaponifiables and vitamins
add tetrasodium - mild preservative and should help lather in hard water and reduce soap scum
add silk amino acids - softens hair and binds water to skin
add a paraben-free preservative - soap doesn't need it but cream has a much higher water content and should probably have some kind of germ protection
remove the lecithin - I'm not sure its actually bringing anything to the table

Hi,
I've tried the Tea Tree, & the Lavender, Rosemary & Mint, with the Mint still to go. We've got hard water here, & i found that i used slightly more cream than expected to get enough lather. After that though, it was great!
The lather is thick with fantastic slickness & glide, & it forms quite quickly in the bowl. I'm using D.R.Harris almond at the moment, & found yours to be superior. You're going to have to start selling this as i don't want to be without it now!
Please count me in if you need the next batch assessed.
Thanks again

Hi Chad

This is your first try and it's very good, better than many soaps i have.
I mostly use soaps, so can't compare much with creams except with J.M.Fraser that i use a couple times a week.
I love the 3 strong smells from your creams.
I think lather is a bit thin and dries fast. I would prefer it a bit creamier and longer lasting.
If you could make it a little bit more slippery, it would be even better.

The first time i used it i had a quite thin lather, maybe i din't use enough creams.
Now it's better and i do get a close and comfortable shave,
specialy today with a feather straight wtg + atg = bbs and no sting at all after a warm rinse then alun block.
You can sell that cream anytime and have happy customers as it is now.

What you said you want to modify should make it a real top cream that i would probable rate a 10.

I think you are almost there at the top. There's not much missing.

When you get your next batch if it's available i'll surely buy some.

I think I would agree with all of the above here. Not sure if the cream itself doesn't build a thick lather and dries too quickly or if that depends on the individual, but I think any cream could benefit from building thicker lather and lasting longer!

Shaved with it once, I'll make a full review after a few shaves.

But I need to say 2 things:

Scent: I compared with a bottle of Absinthe I have and it's so close I can't even tell what you should make different to get it exactly like my absinthe.

Second, I have a really sensitive skin and I have to say: SENSITIVE SKIN APPROVED!

Default Tea Tree

I tried the tea tree cream today. As you know I like the strong pungent odors your product has. As before the lather whipped up quick and thick. Again the shave was smooth and slick. I had no problems with it drying out or changing odor.

I must tell you that I am new to the cream style shaving creams. (and straight shaving for that matter) I have however tried many puck soap products. I must say that I have been sold on these two. The very best I've tried yet. I find myself carefully metering out the cream so as to not waste any.

Next up absinthe!!!! And thanks again for the samples!!!!
