Question Best Clear Shaving Gel (softens hairs)? Only used Feather Brand so far...

Hi! Sorry if there's already been a discussion on gels, but I did try searching and didn't find an answer to my specific question.

I was wondering, first of all, which gel is best? I've been using the Feather brand, and it's okay, but I'm curious whether there's anything out there that does a bit more to soften up the hairs. I'd use soap like everybody else, except that I do go to a bit of trouble to get the shape of my mustache, sideburns, and goatee just right, and a gel makes this so much easier as I can see through it while shaving.

Thanks very much, bye.

IIRC the feather gel is actually a base that is used with the liquid shaving soap. I'd imagine if your using that on its own, your shaves must be somewhat uncomfortable.

I agree for creating straight lines with facial hair, the straight razor is the best tool for the job....
Personally I have stopped using the gel styles and opted for real shaving lather it is just so much more comfortable on my face...and it really isn't that much harder to get the lines straight...

But to answer your question the "Alba" gels were pretty good, even for my overly sensitive skin...

I find i enjoy the experience more with soaps & creams, but King of Shaves do some good stuff, if you can get hold of it.
