Default After shaving with a shavette for 16 days on holiday...

I finally got back home today and got to use my straight razor again!! I might also have to mention that my other shavegear on holiday was a cheap brush and some shavecream from Bodyshop..

Not a bad word about the shavette, it gets the job done despite it feeling cheap and feeling way to light. But there is no hiding that the brush from Bodyshop is crap compared to the badger brush I have here at home, and the shavecream cant be compared to my favorite T&H 1805 either!

It was a delightfull experience once again holding a real straight in my hands and shaving of 2 days worth of stubbles! God I didn't realize how much I actually missed it!

We had a fantastic vacation (We where in a small town called Molivos on the island Lesvos in Greece) and I have promised to do a lengthy writeup about the trip in my own language. Once it's done I might translate it to English and post it here on the board if someone is interested in reading it!

I'm not sure if it would be any better, but you might consider a DE next time you are traveling. I'd prefer to use one over a shavette, but that's just my preference. Or you could look into a less expensive, replaceable straight. I believe some members keep a Wapi to travel with.

Please note, I do own a DE, but I have used it about 3 times. I don't like DE's, and while traveling is the only time I think I would use it. And only if I'm flying, because I don't check baggage.

Ah, don't get me wrong! The shavette gets the job done just fine, it's just not the same feel as a real straight shave with my best gear! As I have never tried a DE, I have no idea if I would like it or not when traveling, but you sure gave me a god tip. And besides, now I have a reason to have to try out a DE to! Any reason that can be used to try out a new gadget (and even get approval from the misses, as I think she got a bit tired of me saying after every shave that I missed my straight ) is a dam good reason!
