Ears
I can recall being in my mothers arms as small child while in public and pointing to some older fellar passing by "look mommy look"
I don't remember what I said though I know she was embarassed.
I doubt he heard what I said judging from the coppice of growth tangling from his ear. I suspect he was a wizard and somehow sensed my shock, cursing me to the same fate under his breath as he smiled and nodded to my mother.
true story; if the hair on my head grew as fast as that in my ears I could make my living selling it to wigmakers. Through several inquiries I have discovered no one wants a wig made of ear hair.
I have one of those mini trimmers I had seen on TV. Using it I thought how clever of them to edit out the noise this gizmo creates for their commercial. Currently I use a Merkur moustache razor with a gillette travel handle to make it look even cuter.
It's ok I guess. Yesterday I got brave enough to swipe at it with a straight. Not easy.
I wondered what other hobbyist do within the confines of the concha

My ears...
I don't have tons of hair growing out of them but I do hate having hair growing from them any way and I pluck it when I see it. Not really the best solution if you have a lot of it though....
Sorry I am not much help here

I have that issue too. The older you get the worse it becomes. I use a trimmer classic shaving sells. It looks like a cannon and you just squeeze it and it works great. I think its made by feather. It works like the electrics but its strictly manual.

It is suspected the razor is haunted.

Well I say embrace the hirsute ear!!
Actually I've heard, having absolutely no ear hair issue myself at all, that this type of hair is spectacularly good for performing the HHT with. So, although wig makers might not want it, perhaps you could sell it to honemeisters? And you could offer two kinds, like dental floss - waxed, or waxless....

I've had a few pop up and I shave them away with my straight. Gingerly though. I do the same with nose hairs. Sure beats plucking them, but my 3/8 French point is the best tool for these jobs.

Actually if your going to use a straight for the task a 2/8s is even better that a 3/8s.

I'm in my early 40s and to my wife's utter dismay; I recently began having the odd hair show up in my ears and on my back. She runs - screaming - for the tweezers and plucks them. I'm sure this will get worse as time goes by. I'll have to look into one of those Feather things.

Yeah, when I was a kid, I named my chest hairs alphabetically as they appeared.
The hairs in my ears are not extended the same courtesy.

I can tell you this much at least, a quick blast from a self igniting propane torch is not the quick fix solution it sounds to be

Well, I've no doubt that would at least slow the hairs down for a while!

That reminds me of an old video I saw posted on here a while ago - a Turkish barber shave with flaming baton to finish up. I'll see if I can find it...
Right-handed reach-a-cross
There it is! Some way into that video I think a flaming baton makes an appearance about the ear-al area!
Another thought - I have, and I know others have as well, a tiny little straight used for slicing corns. I gave up on trying to get it really sharp, but I bet it could be done well enough to get into the old ear hairs. I'll see if I can find the pic of mine...
A Widdle Wedge
There it is. Maybe you could find one like that, hone it up, and use it for the hair that dare not mention its name?
James.

I use a Michael Motokata trimmer.
After reading UKaskmen reviews, his trimmer came up trumps.
It actually has a suction mechanism which sucks the hairs into the cutting area and I absolutely wouldn't do without it.

I use my straight to shave the "fuzz" off the outer edge of my ear. I accidentally sliced my ear the first time, but no problems now.

glad you healed without incident. I'll try it as a test of skill.
