Default Nicks with different creams?

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with nicks from one cream versus another. Specifically, Proraso versus Truefitt & Hill. Every time I shave with Proraso, I end up getting nicked at least 3-4 times. With T&H, nothing. It's not like it is a certain day of the week, I have 6 creams I rotate through, so each one comes up on a different day. Out of my 6, 3 are T&H, 1 Proraso Green, 1 AoS, 1 TOB. The Proraso is day 5. Is it me? I seem to remember from shaving with a DE, that I got pretty nicked with Proraso, too. I have the same ritual, same pre-shave (T&H oil), same everything. Thoughts?

Maybe I am wrong, but is it possible that your skin does not react well to the Proraso - or one of its component? you could perhaps try to apply lather with the Proraso on your skin without shaving, keep it for one or two minutes and then wash it away; then have a look at your skin... maybe your skin likes better the other cream you are using.

Or maybe you just like expensive-luxury stuff better...

Incidentally, my problems were with T&H, whereas Proraso worked rather well.

With respect to nicks, I found that CF's pre shave did a lot against them for me. The human skin is an interesting thing, and the more different products I try, the less I believe in recommendations for an individual product.

Howdy,

my experience is similiar with Proraso. My take is that its the menthol in the Proraso that has a slightly numbing effect, therefore potentially leading to higher pressure applied during the shave. Still a great shaving cream, though - but when using it I really have to take care about how I put the razor to my face.

My 2 cents,
-Axel-
