Default Calling all Aussies (or people that have been to Melbourne)

Hi All,

I am wondering if anyone knows of any good places in Melbourne to peruse/overspend on shaving supplies. I would be interested in any shops that sell straight razors, strops, hones, soaps, aftershaves, etc. Having never been to Melbourne I was hoping that some of the helpful members here would be able to lend a hand.

Thanks a bunch, fellas.

you came to the right place

Henry Buck sell a range of gentlemans shaving stuff incl TOBS shaving cream and aftershaves.
Grooming - ACCESSORIES - Henry Buck Pty Ltd - most stores are stocked with at least a few flavors of cream and a few soaps.

Simplicity direct has T&H but they're an internet store
Truefitt & Hill Gifts, Mens Grooming Products - Gift sets - Shaving, Bath, Cologne (Powered by CubeCart)

Ludlows in the cbd do Trumpers products and random other stuff.
Ludlows - Barrister's wigs, gowns, collars, tunics and Geo F Trumper

L'occitane (sp) have some shaving stuff, as does the body shop
L’OCCITANE en Provence

Crabtree and evelyn have a store in Melb central

That should get you started.

In terms of actual straight razors and strops, I think you'll find those quite hard to find. Mars leathers would probably make a strop for you relatively cheap.

Let me know if you need more guidence

I think that ought to get me started indeed, keljian. I appreciate the information and I'll be sure to check out some of those places. The only place in Sydney that is a bricks and mortar high end shaving store needs an appointment if you want to view the stuff and I don't really buy into that game.

In Sydney the only place I've come across is The Art of Man, but (as mentioned above) one needs to make an appointment to go to the actual store. Their website is Online Shopping Canada, USA, Business and Services Directory, Shop In Cities .com and you can order stuff online but you can't try before you buy. Another place to try would be the Shaver Shop: your local shopping centre ought to have one. Their selection of creams and soaps leaves a lot to be desired as they deal mostly with electric razor stuff (ech!).

I haven't had very much luck finding any places in Sydney that cater to men who care about such things as the way they smell after a shave. Crabtree and Evelyn is ubiquitous. Sometimes you can find some decent stuff at David Jones or Myer, but don't hold your breath. This is why I was so excited to be going to Melbourne as my friends have all told me what a shopping Mecca it was. We'll have to wait and see.
