wierd problem on left cheek

I am wondering if anyone has ever had a problem like I have. I shave my normal 2 passes and then go to touch up a spot on my left cheek, and I can see whisker follicles but they are beneath the skin and are not shaveable. SO I try and try get burn and more burn and still I see stubble that I can't feel. Now next time I shave in a couple days, I may not have that problem. It comes and it goes. Usually if I wait 2 or even better 3 days between shaves I don't have this problem.

But it is wierd and really annoying. If I look at myself closely in the mirror it looks like I am growing back some stubble, but really I just shaved it all off.

I don't know if this is going to help but maybe your skin just looks "peppered": meaning is you have cut your whiskers but, as you did a good job, you didn't cut them under the skin level with too much pulling your skin. I almost always have this peppered skin because I have a very thick beard; my shave is clean and smooth, but something like "shadows" of whiskers under the skin can be seen. If I keep my skin tighter I can make this disappear, but thus also increasing the risk of ingrowing hair...

Matt,

I have that across my whole face after the best of shaves. It is minimized in the moustache area, but it is faintly there as well. Maybe it is just the contrast between dark, thick hair against light skin, or maybe I am just not cutting the hair in a way to eliminate the look of underlying stubble. Smooth is all I have been able to achieve though

Try to grow a 2 days beard and analyse again the growth direction in this particular area... You may find it surprising...

You then correct the shaving pass in this special area and you're done...

Like what Matt said, do that. Also, you may just have large pours right there. If by waiting a couple of days, finding the growth pattern, doesn;t work. You could always put that face mask on. Don't need to tell us if you did, but maybe if you clean out the pours and let them close up a little, may not be as noticable. My wife is always trying to get me to do it.

Also, you could try shaving different directions at that spot, like diagonally from left to right, right to left, up and down. I've noticed that using diagonal both blade up and blade down help in finishing my shave.
