Default Today was a great day. Scored big on my first trip to the antique mall

Oh my, what a good day I had today:

I got my Mama Bear soaps in today, and she threw in a sample size (half full tub) of the Lilac Ice for free:

I also went to an antique store today. I got a Cohiba cigar case to store my razors in. I will add a nice lining for it later, but for now it is just a storage unit. It is pretty heave, good dovetails, and the hindges are in great shape. Best of all, I only paid $7 for it!:

Oh my, what is that inside the Cohiba case?

Oh really fool?

Lets take a closer look, shall we?

Razor #1:

It appears to be a 5/8 spike point with tiger striped celluloid scales, stamped as follows:
Fine Edge Cut. Corp.
New-York City U.S.A
M.I. Solingen-Germany

The blade shows evidence of hone wear, but shows no pitting from what I can tell, just some surface scratches, and a tiny line of gunk or rust along the edge of the cutting line. Blade edge is free of chips, dents, and nicks. Pardon my fingerprints.

Reverse side stamped:
Trade Mark
Ariston
(inside the bubble) FINEEDGE OSTISO

Again, no pitting, cutting line miniscule rust or gunk, fingerprints. Blade edge is free of chips, dents, and nicks.

The blade is perfectly aligned dead center with the scales:

Price paid: $12.50

Razor #2

It appears to be a 4/8 spike point with cream celluloid scales, stamped as follows:
NO 80
"REG. U.S. PAT. OFF."

Small blemishes near back of blade, zero signs of pitting or rust on blade surface.

Reverse side stamped:
M. JUNG
NEW YORK
M.I.GERMANY

Zero signs of pitting or rust on blade surface. Very little hone wear. If I hold the blade at just the right angle, I can see 4 extremely tiny nicks in the blade edge, which should easily hone out (they do not show up in the pics)

The blade is slightly off center to the right, but does not come in contact with the scales at any point.

Price paid: $5

I'm pretty sure the cases don't match the blades they came with, but at least I got some cases to store them in. The Jung razor will probably be my practice razor for honing, but both of them will be getting cleaned up and honed properly once I get the gear for that.

All in all, it was a good day. Not bad for my first trip to the antique store

I had a 6/8 Fineedge, and she was a great shaver till Eric took her off my hands. She took a great edge.

Nice catch and very nice photos. Most sellers in BST could take a lesson from you for your detailed images!

I appreciate the kind words. I will keep that in mind when I do start to sell some restorations on here. I know what I look for myself when I'm looking at pics, and I've read enough to get a good idea of what everyone else is looking for, it's good to know someone else appreciates it

I have an M. Jung No. 30 (6/8") and it's a great shaver.
