Well, I won, almost unintentionaly (correct word there?), an ebay auction for a Wade & Butcher.

Today it arrived, and I am happy as could be, some minor pitting that is easily taken care of, goood edge that will be great with just a little bit of honing.

The scales though needs to be replaced, so now some evenings is booked!

The Wade & ButcherI have (a Bow Razor) was from an eBay auction too.
Doesn't seem to have much hone wear and the pitting, well, only after you start sanding it you'll know how deep it is.
I love a Wade & Butcher barber notch's. Got to grab one!

To me those horn scales don't look to be in too bad of condition. I would recommend sanding them with some high grit sandpaper and then polishing them with bit of furniture was or something and see how they end up. Small nicks or chips can be contour sanded easily with horn.

Well, as for the scales, they are pretty bug bitten, especially on the "inside" edge.....

I'll sand them a bit to see how they will turn out, mayby not too bad..

As for the blade, it turns out real good, I'm on 800 grit, have left some minor pitting because I don't find it worth the work to sand it into oblivion.....but it will be niiiice

By the way, does anyone know model and ca. date of manufacturing?? Just corious...... It is something like 13/16 and since it don't have too much honewear it should be pretty close the original size....

So, finally did some refurbishing on my W&B!

Not as shiny as Travellers, but it's good enough for me (for the momen, anyway!)

Some minor pitting left on the blade, but nothing major.

Scales turned out better then I hoped, with some nice horn texture (thanks Chris, for encouragement, I would have scrapped them otherwise!) fixed the bug bites with CA, sanded, polished and repinned. Homemade pins and washers if someone wonders..

The only thing left is honing and shaving, yeah!!

Just a short update: Yes, shaves Very Well!

Not as good as my Hejle 31, but maybe a slightly different handling of the razor is needed with such a heavy blade.
