Smile My first Wade & Butcher

I won my first Wade & Butcher from an eBay auction this week. I was the sole bidder on the auction and won it at $7.95. I think I was the only bidder because the seller listed it as a Wader Butcher which I can understand since the stamping isn't very clear.

I gave it a good spray down with Oster Spray Disinfectant and wiped the blade with some MAAS and this is what it looks like so far.

What are those black spots on the blade called? I would like to get them off before I send it to be honed but I don't know what they are called so I can't search the restoration forum for the best way to deal with them. I appreciate any input on those.

congrats on the nab. That's sort of how I got my latest Wade. The seller had it listed as "barbers rattler", which it clearly says on the blade (with the wade and butcher logo underneath that), but the tang was so tarnished/rusted (no pitting) over that the manufacturer couldn't be read until I took a .000 steel wool to it and some MAAS.

Well bought sir.
The black spots you ask about are due to rust / pitting.
Hard to be sure from pics but looks like a fairly easy cleanup.

Excellent score! W&B razors are hard to get for that price. Thats almost as much as the shipping would be
