Putting together a crude but usable cowhide hanging strop is very easy and inexpensive. A strip of leather, a punch, a grommet and you're done. Making a more aesthetically pleasing strop with nice hardware and a great nubuck or hand rubbed finish......in my experience, the payoff is worth it, but it's surprising how much time, effort and elbow grease it really takes to make a great strop. From start to finish, unless you have it down or a planned production routine, we're talking hours from start to finish. I have great respect for Tony Miller and the level of quality of his higher end strops.
