Well Shaved Gentlemans Barber's Box
Just a little tease of a new product I will have to offer. This is based on the old Barber's Boxes once used to hold a weeks supply of straight razors and a few shears. I redesigned it a bit to only hold razors now and with a removable insert in case someone wants to modify the dividers a bit for other things.
It will hold 20 normal to large razors and has a snap catch to keep the case closed. It hold anything 4/8 tthrough reasonable sized meat choppers, maybe 7/8 or so but much will depend on how far the blade fits into the scales. I only found one piece in my collection that would not fit in the compartment.
These are made from solid oak on the exterior with rabbeted corners. The very base is ply as are the dividers due to the need for extremely thin wood there. The finish is a bit lighter than the original, antique golden oak as it blends a bit better with modern decor. Hardware is brass. Price is $90.00
These were made to my design by my Amish woodworker friends, brothers, John and Amos Lapp. They also make my wide 2 sided paddle blanks (which are finally finished and awaiting leather). My 4 sided paddles are turned by another Amish friend Henry Stoltzfus and finished by the Lapp brothers.
These will be available for sale when I return from vacation, August 25th.
Thanks for looking,
Tony

I'm reading this thread and listening to Bob Marley on iTunes at the same time. He is expressing my reaction better than I could...

Very nice. I have an old one that is very similar to it that. Some day I hope to get around to gluing it together--the thing is so old it just fell apart into several pieces. Fixing it is going to be like putting together a 3D jigsaw puzzle with a lot of glue and clamps. I might just buy one of yours if mine gives up the ghost.
