I was checking out places on the web to purchase brass rods from and I came across this site. Two items that caught my eye was the drum thickness sander and the micro punch set. I plan on making some scales so....

Here's the link. Micro-Mark: The Small Tool Specialists | Tools and Supplies for Building Scale Models of Railroad Trains, Ships, Planes, Cars, Trucks and More.

Has anybody checked this site out yet? Let me know what you think. Maybe post some other sites like this one so we can do some comparison shopping.

I dont know about all of the tools but this mini grinder they have
Tools and Supplies for Building Scale Models | Micro-Mark: The Small Tool Specialists

looks to be the same as this one at harbor freight
Harbor Freight Tools - Quality Tools at the Lowest Prices

the harbor freight one is less then half the cost.
So I would check their prices closely before buying

The thickness sander you showed is nice for only a few things. For that price, just get a decent table plane. A plane is designed for dimensioning, whereas a thickness sander is more for finishing.
Or just get neither of them and buy your wood at the thickness you want.

I'm not sure what you want the micro punches for exactly. If you're looking to dome washers, I don't think the punches these guys have are appropriate.
