Default resto Blade and newbie kit

I finally got done and not a second too soon.
This is all for my son who comes back from Army Training tomorrow night, he's been gone since Feb.
Sno is beside herself waiting
Thanks to the CrO i picked up from Chris its a very smooth shaver
The blade is a Genco made in 1951 in Bradford PA, which makes it a Case blade it says Honor on the front. I picked this up at an Antique store a fe months ago as the blade only for something like $3.00. I figured it was worth it
The scales are African Blackwood with a yellowheart spacer since black and gold are the Army colors I thought it was fitting.
I was intending to have his initials inlayed on the front and send it to a honemeister but my daughters horse decided she needed to up and die on us there went all my razor play money.
The DE was an ebay find, this way he will have something if he doesnt learn to hone so the straight can be sent out.
The box was a couple bucks at a thrift store.
The Hoppes mug is what I started with and heck its Hoppe's it's a classic
and yes the brush is a boar, I'll show him where he can buy the Badger if he sticks with it
The rest is what I had as extras.
OOPS! I forgot , he is getting my old strop, since I was making another anyway
Hope he likes it!
Comments are gladly welcome, sorry for the lousy pics

Bob

Nice job on the razor and the kit, the scales look great and that's a neat looking stand on the mug.

Awesome! He should be pretty pleased to get something you put so much time into. My parents took me to Ruby Tuesday's when I graduated Basic and AIT. Your gift kicks ass!

fantastic gift dad, so many overlook the shaving needs of the military personell, it would be great if we could start up a collection for active duty personell and donate a DE or shaving cups, old strops, blades, straights, and the like, to have them shipped to a unit of guys that risk their lifes on a daily basis for us all, a friend of mines husband is a marine that had to go , so i told him to see me before he went , i gave him one of my fighting knives to take with him to use instead of the military junk they are given to use,

That's a brilliant brush stand! I've seen fancy stands that hold the brush above the mug/bowl but yours is the first that goes right on the mug. It like its portability that allows it to go from the mug to the counter top. Is that your own invention?

Thanks for the compliment
I cant really call it much of an invention, its one piece of copper wire about 18in long. It will sit on the counter if need be but I made it to go over the cup so the brush could drip in the cup and not on the counter
