Default vibrating polishing media

Following up on Glen's thread of a couple of months ago.

Can anyone comment on whether the larger size of walnut or cob usually found at the pet stores yields a different result from that purchased from reloading suppliers?

yes. it's not as good. the reloading media usually has jeweler's rouge on it (at least the walnut shells usually do.)

corn cob is about the same, just remember you are going to have to dump a few spoonfuls of polish in with it.

My question was directed more at some earlier comments in Glen's thread stating that the pet store media was larger than the reloader's and might not perform as well. In other words, does size matter?

Yeah that thread got so long that it is almost cumbersome to read every post.... IIRC the pet-store media didn't perform as well even after adding grit/polishing compound....
The best polishes I have found as of this date to add BTW is still the Liquid Turtle Wax rubbing compund to the walnut and the Liquid Turtle Wax Polishing compound to the corn cob....

About 36-48 hours in the walnut and at least 48 hours in the corncob seems to be about the right timing.....
