Nicely done. Glad you didn't try to expand the socket.

Agreed. Those old brushes had a unique symmetry that's easily ruined. It's easy enough (at least most of the time
) to replicate and scale-up older handle patterns to accommodate the larger knots preferred by many these days. We did that with a number of older patterns for M&F (like the Beehive shown below)--and even managed a few for ourselves.
