To my memory I've never tried Irish whiskey. Now that doesn't mean I haven't. There are years that are still kind of fuzzy. Especially from 69 to 73 while I was in the USAF. Crown Royal in Okinawa was 1.75 a fifth and I gave moma son Johnny walker red and white along with Marl bough cigarettes'for cleaning my rm. So I think tonight will be a first. Oh just incase i don't like it I bought mini bottles .

Before you give up, try a sip of Jameson's - it's as peaty as the most expensive single malt Scotches.
I'll do that. Just to catch us up. How are you doing these days. I see you more here on the place and have been wondering about you and your health. I know this is a little off topic but hope the mods will allow it.

Everyone has a different palate.

As a Whiskey Conisour; How do I know I don't like it, if I don't try it?

I have also found that Whiskey is a mood drink. Some times you want something sweet, sometimes smooth, other times you just need to get punched in the face...

Over the years (especially those years in the USAF) I have tried many many many different brands of whisky gin vodka wine and the drink of my youth home brew (potato pealing's and yeast sugar water) that I bought from the local boot legger. It was yellow in color and kept bubbling. What I've found that whiskys first taste was different from the rest but after one or two it really didn't matter much. Gin straight after the first taste there was no difference at all with the otheres. so on and so on. Until you get to the home brew. It tasted not good and went down from there. It would get you high though. Now this is just one persons opinion and opinions are like well you know. every one has one.

I have found a similar traight with whiskey.

First sip is the handshake (Tastebud acclimation) - Nice to meet you.

Second sip is the conversation - Will I like this guy. (It's not until the second sip that I get the flavor notes, profile and follow through.)
