A questioned I ask a friend

I went looking through the safe today and looked at a few of the razors I have and like rather well. The ones in the safe are the ones that I intend to keep for a long time. Personal razors. As l looked at them I remembered a question I ask a friend several years ago now. What was his favorite razor in his collection. He thought about it and said that it had been along time since he had shaved with one out of his collection and that he liked them all. I have finally understood what he meant. Now I've have been acquiring razors (what I consider decent razors) and reconditioning them then honing and passing them on to folks here on SRP and some on eBay at what I consider a good starting price. I realized today that I hadn't shave with one out of the safe for sometime now. I now understand his answer that he liked them all. Each razor if honed properly and handled properly will give a good shave and that is really what it's all about. Now folks after thinking about all this I decided to share my thoughts with everyone.

For me, the favorites are not necessarily the ones that shave best,. I have them for historical interests more than performance. One of the best razors for me was an mid '20's Salamander "Our Wedge" and was probably $7. That taught me a lot about razors. It seems like some brands are very popular. but that does not necessarily mean they are the best shavers, but they may have an historical component that collectors find interesting.
