Cigar of the Day

Well well, back from the dead. So back in the day I had a similar thread at the old place. Might as well make the first post on the new digs non razor related. A Fuente Reserva Xtra Viejo 49 that has been sitting in the humidor for a couple years along with some 10 year bourbon. Would that make it a Grande Xtra Viejo? Mucho Grande Viejo? Regardless it is good.

Evening Mike. Lot of knowledge to rebuild but there is something to be said for a fresh start as well. Have to get with Lou and send him a brush for a giveaway. I have several on the shelf left for when Don retired SRD.

Back in 2012 Matt Booth the owner of Room 101 cigars was at my local B&M for an event. I purchased this box of OSOK's from him there before the 'official' release to market. They only made 1,000 boxes. This one has been sitting in the ageing humidor since 2012 still in the cellophane wrap. It is about time to crack the seal.20190817_105623.jpg

I absolutely love a morning cigar with a good cup of coffee. I only have time for this maybe once a month it seems. But I sure do enjoy it.

Oh man. I don’t smoke often. It’s unpopular with my wife, expensive, and bad for me. But typically once a year or one weekend out of the year I indulge. Last week was my indulgence. I really wish I remembered the cigar my shop suggested for me. It was divine. I lime a maduro wrap and a big ring size for an easy, cool draw. He set me up with a beauty. If you find yourself in Chicago, the Old Town Tobaccos Shop is the place to be. A view of the lake to smoke by doesn’t hurt either. DD7E77BC-0E48-449F-8580-924833ED174C.jpeg

For some reason there are a few old world cigar sizes that get little respect in the US. Corona and lancero cigars are poor sellers, most US markets think bigger is better which is evident with the big 60+ ring cigars that have gotten so popular lately. With a good wrapper and binder leaf the smaller sizes showcase their flavors. Tonight a MyFather lancero. Draw slowly to keep the cigar cool and enjoy.20190829_214515.jpg
