Well right now i'm drinking some 1792 bourbon. This has been my go to bourbon for a couple of years, meaning something I don't need to take out a second mortgage to afford as well as predictable quality of experience. I must say though lateley like with all bourbons I start off liking them a lot then after a while they dissapoint from time to time. All bottles are not equal is what i'm saying sometimes heaven sometimes garbage. I think once popularity ticks up, quality on the producers side starts to fade, at least that's what I believe. Had the same experience with Elijah Craig which I used to think was the best bang for the buck and lately feel its cheap hooch. I may just go back to Wild Turkey lol.

Cant go wrong with Wild Turkey
I agree that some whiskeys vary from batch batch, but I also think that our taste or changes from day to day. I can take a swig of a bottle and it taste like heaven and the next day it taste terrible.

I had some friends over last Saturday evening to smoke cigars around the fire pit. One of them brought a bottle of Still Austin Straight Bourbon from down in Texas. The flavor was mild and sweet.

Low key supper tonight.

Dr lovely and I started the evening with a couple of dirty martinis (not pictured, sorry) then had a Caesar salad while we reheated some eggplant lasagna she found in the freezer form a couple of months back.

After supper, it seemed like a nice evening for an Americano. I didn't have any oranges but I have plenty of limes, so that had to stand in. It was just right. A delicious cocktail.

Not sure if y'all know or not, but today is National Bourbon Day (thank you LBJ).

I'm celebrating with a Sazarac (I know it's normally made with Rye, but Bourbon is the Official Spirit of America).

Just looked at the clock on the wall and it seems like bed time so a little night cap. two fingers of the Bird. I've found that Scotch is a little better with Ice.
