Henckel 50 -1-2.jpg Currently I use 3 different Henckels. 72 1/2 and a 50. There's 2 off the 72 1/2. These razors shave very good. 2 of these a friend let me have. I ran across this 50 1/2 inox on the bay and even though I've had rather bad luck with stainless blades before I decided to give this one a try. I should receive it about Monday and will hone then and I'll let you know how it does. I've never had one with this color scales. I have a 4 razor hard box a friend sent me and with this one I'll have the box of henckels.

Contrary to some peoples opinions on stainless steel, I have had nothing but positive results with Friodurs

When I got back in to straight razors i tried a couple of stainless razors with not good results but that may have been my technique so I’m going give it another try. Hopefully with better results

I find nothing wrong with ss razors. Sure, I have honed a few that didnt impress me but the same goes with carbon steel

Could not agree more on stainless. I've had Friodurs since I started. And they have all honed up great, stayed sharp, and shaved like a dream. Zero complaints.

Henckel 20.jpgI've got to stop looking at the bay. I saw this one and thought it might be good to play with. It's another 50 1/2 and the rust might or might not work out. The other side looks a little better with the blade but the scales are broken at the wedge end. I acquired it at a reasonable price (cheap) and at least it will give me something to sand and buff. I have a lot of one side scales and may have one to take the place of the broken one. Nothing ventured nothing gained. I really don't need it so If it works out I'll see if it will bring what I have in it.

Looks like it will clean ok except maybe for the edge. I would hone it first, then proceed if you can get a good clean edge

That's pretty much what I had planned. But the first thing would be to put it in the CRX or what ever it's called to loose the rust so I can see if it's pitted and if so how much. It should show the edge better as far as pitting goes. Anyway wish me luck.

This one came in today and it looks just like the photo. I honed it with Naniwa 1-3-5-8 and 12K Super Stones then finished with the Suehiro 20K stropped with English bridled strop from SRD. It did do a very good job. I'm getting closer to deciding on the ones I'll shave with from now on and this may make the list. Like everyone I have my favorites and even though the others are good I may work my way down to 12-14 razors and let the others find a new home.

This one came today and after removing the scales and dunking the blade in to some CLR the hiting it with a wire brush I do believe it will clean up and polish out good. Although I would love to have a set of Henckel scales to put on it I do have a set of Ivory that fits. It wouldn't be correct but it will be usable.

Henckel Ivory 1.jpgHenckel ivory 2.jpg I guess I'm getting old. I soaked the blade in SLR and brushed with a stainless steel brush and then started to work on it. I used 220 wet dry then went up in grit. I finely got tired and polished it and then pinned the Ivory scales on it. It looks as if it should hone up good and shave good. I'll drink me a glass of tea and start to hone. I did this just to see if it would turn out good enough to shave so if it does I'll let it go to another home. Oh this is the Henckel 50 1/2 that had all the rust. I've had fun with this one so now I'll put it on the bay for what I've got into it so a beginner can start out with a less exspensive razor but one that will shave. I'm looking now for another to play with.

I honed it and it does shave and shaves rather nicely. I do like this size and shape Henckel. They hone good and handle good. Kind of makes it hard to down size.

friodur.jpgI saw this one on the bay and had no idea i would win in at the starting price but wanted to see what it would sell for. Well It sold for the starting price. Now I'm waiting for it to get to me. When it gets here I'll hone and shave and start making some decisions. From what I can see it's not been honed before or it has there's no wear at all. I've got to quite doing this. another 50 1/2
